Pennsylvania Basement Oasis

Inspired by the interiors of two of their favorite hotels - The Parker Palm Springs and Beverly Hills Hotel - my clients wanted to transform their unfinished basement into a swanky retreat for entertaining and family enjoyment. Because Pennsylvania winters are long, we aimed to create a bright, modern space different from the more traditional upper floors of the residence. Varying ceiling and wall surfaces, and slatted walnut screens help delineate the billiards space from the lounge and wet bar. A built-in banquette provides flexible seating for dining and card games. Retro brass hardware and light fixtures, a mix of vintage and mid-century inspired furnishings and the iconic Martinique wallpaper suggest you've been transported back to 1960s California. A large exercise room is located at the bottom of the staircase and a guest bedroom and bath is accessible from a hallway behind the fireplace.
